Global Head, Google Cloud Customer Operations - External Ops & Program Management
Alan Stein currently leads the Global Scaled Operations team for Google Cloud Support. His team focusses on working cross functionally with product, sales, engineering and the global cloud support organization to improve the quality of customer support while enabling it to scale for the rapidly growing enterprise business. He has been at Google for over five years and has worked across the publisher, advertiser and enterprise customer base.
Prior to Google, Alan was a Marketing Director at American Express where he led customer acquisition for co-brand card acquisition for the Costco and Lowe's American Express Cards. During his six years at American Express, he also managed 70 call center representatives focused on customer retention. Alan joined American Express from Columbia Business School after graduating in 2005. Prior to business school, Alan spent seven years in finance as an equity analyst and venture capitalist with a brief one year stint in minor league baseball where he was Director of Promotions for the now defunct New Haven Ravens.
Alan lives in Brooklyn with his wife, three kids,dog, and parrot. In his spare time, he coaches his sons' flag football team and baseball teams, documents virtually every moment of his kids' lives with over 40K photos, dabbles in fantasy sports, and makes weekly trips to Costco to keep his minions fed and clothed.
Alan has worked for 10 different employers and 23 different bosses since graduation from Binghamton University 20+ years ago. He was a 2015 winner of the Google Great Manager Award and is a firm believer of growing quality management across Google.
